What to know before cleaning.
- 01
Oil, rust, tannin, paint and older stains respond differently to cleaning. Some improve a lot, some only partly. We tell you which before we start.
- 02
Too much pressure with a hand wand can etch concrete and leave stripes. A rotary surface cleaner spreads the work evenly.
- 03
Cleaning removes contamination. It cannot repair cracked, spalled or worn concrete, and existing damage can look more obvious once clean.

Concrete sealing is separate work, quoted on its own if you want it.

Why Sunshine Coast driveways go black
Concrete is porous. On the Sunshine Coast, high rainfall and humidity keep it damp, and mould and algae move in. Shaded driveways under trees in Buderim, Mountain Creek and the hinterland tend to go dark first. Leaves drop tannin that stains, and wheel tracks pick up grime.
Near the beach in Mooloolaba, Coolum Beach and Caloundra, sand and salt add to the mix. Newer estates in Sippy Downs and Little Mountain have plenty of exposed aggregate, which holds dirt between the stones.
Why we use a rotary surface cleaner
A hand wand concentrates pressure on a small spot. Move it unevenly and you get light and dark stripes, sometimes etched into the surface. A rotary surface cleaner spins two jets under a hood, so the same amount of cleaning reaches every part of the slab. The result is even, and spray is contained.

Exposed aggregate, pavers and pool surrounds
Exposed aggregate needs care around loose stones and worn binder. Pavers need attention at the joints so sand is not blasted out. Pool surrounds are cleaned with runoff directed away from the water. Each surface is checked before we choose the pressure and treatment.
Pair it with other exterior work
