A roof may collect growth, airborne residue and debris over time. Shade, coastal exposure and the roof material all affect what you see. An assessment is the right starting point before deciding how to clean it.
Dark streaks or patches
Staining may be caused by biological growth or airborne residue. Note where it appears and whether the surface is shaded, then have the roof material and coating assessed.
Visible lichen or moss
Growth can appear differently on tile, terracotta and metal roofing. A cleaning approach should suit the material and its condition rather than assuming high pressure is appropriate.
Debris around valleys and gutters
Leaves and other debris can collect in valleys and gutter runs, especially near trees. Ask for these areas to be assessed as part of the scope if they need attention.
Coastal residue and coated metal
Exposed roofs can collect salt and airborne residue. Coating condition matters when choosing a method for metal roofing.
